Description
This self-published map was likely created and issued as a labor of love shortly after the closing of Chicago’s Riverview Park in 1967. Located on the east branch of the Chicago River just north of Belmont Avenue, it began operations in the late 1800s as a skeet shooting range.
The amusement park of the 20th century (pictured here) became known for its intense roller coaster (The Bobs), lax security policies, and as the birthplace of the footlong hot dog. Created by Teri & Bob Smitka in Chicago around 1967.
