Description

This gorgeous collection of three promotional pamphlets was issued to encourage ridership along the lines of the Denver & Rio Grand Western Railroad. The company billed itself as ‘The Scenic Line of the World’, and while its routes were not necessarily the quickest or most direct, they offered spectacular views across the mountains and deserts of Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California.

Many of those scenes are replicated through the beautiful illustrations, which highlight the varied landscapes, points of interest, and natural attractions along the line. Notable examples include the Royal Gorge, the Great Salt Lake, the Moffat Tunnel, Garden of the Gods, and the Colorado National Monument. Additional information about each location can be found on the verso, along with a more generalized system map of the railroad network.
