Description

“The purpose of this report is to show the progress of the membership campaign of the Farmers’ Equity Union Cooperative Association, Inc.”

This fascinating circular was issued in 1939, presumably to members of an early effort to organize a poultry farmers’ union in northwestern Wisconsin. Their goal was to organize the efforts of 8,000 farmers between December 1937 and July 1939, though the efforts fell far short (only 4,355 contracts were signed). Six pages of text provide further details, while three pages of graphs show total flock numbers for the committed members (by county). Two folding maps present the canvassed counties across northwestern Wisconsin (17 total) and their respective totals.
