This fascinating study was authored by the Hungarian polymath Otto Herman and published in Budapest by the Hungarian Central Office of Ornithology in 1905. In addition to a detailed examination of the contemporary research of bird migration patterns, the volume represents a resounding call for international cooperation in the scientific community during the final decade of Pax Brittanica.
A folding map is included, also by Hermann, that employs an unusual projection to show the migratory patterns analyzed across much of the Northern Hemisphere.

Condition Description: Ex-libris from the John Crerar Library. 74 pp. rebound in full black cloth covered boards with patterned endpapers. Bookplate on the front pastedown, several rubberstamps, and a punch-out identifier on the title page. Original paper covers are present, but are brittle with age and have become disbound. Otherwise contents are generally quite good, with light scattered spotting and toning consistent with age. Includes a fold-out map, approximately 15' x 11". Good to very good condition overall.
