Description

This is a charming illustrated view of Reading, Pennsylvania looking west from the patio of the Pagoda. First built in 1908 as the centerpiece of a luxury resort on Mount Penn, the structure can still be visited today. A similar scene awaits a modern audience, though the smokestacks of bustling industry have been long dormant.

Designed and published, probably in the early 1950s, by The Old Reading Brewery. Issued as a promotional piece to hang on the walls of taverns and restaurants during a period of particularly difficult finances for the company. It would ultimately go defunct in 1976 after at least two rebrandings. The logo for Reading Premium Beer can be seen in the lower right.
