Description
This rather self-descriptive, but highly detailed, map of the United States was copy-written and published in 1944 by Rand McNally & Co. of Chicago. A legend in the lower left identifies the bright red symbols used to denote military bases for the Army, Navy, and Air Corps – all overlaid atop a base railway map of the U.S. Two soldiers are standing proudly adjacent to the decorative title cartouche, while much of the negative space is occupied by illustrations of American war machines. The verso provides a comprehensive list of military posts and U.S.O Clubs, as well as over a dozen silhouettes of different American planes.
