Description

This detailed road map of New York was published in 1925 by Rand McNally and was issued as a promotional piece for the newly constructed Kenmore Hotel in Albany. A full color view of the hotel can be seen on the front cover, and it’s location “in the center of the business and social activity of the capital” is circled within the map’s image.

Elsewhere, the road system of New York is displayed using a variety of lines; each reflecting a different surface style such as paved, improved, or dirt. Distance between various points are noted in miles, though only for a portion of the area shown. Local trail markers and state highway signs for New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey are illustrated adjacent to the title; though their similarity in color (all black on yellow) would have made for a somewhat difficult distinction.
