Description
Leo Myerson opened his first radio parts store in Council Bluffs, Iowa shortly before World War II using a $1,000 loan from his father. The war brought several large contracts to the company to supply the army with quartz radio crystals, and Myerson (call sign W0GFQ) used the momentum to found World Radio Laboratories, one of the first manufacturers of amateur radio equipment in the United States.
This map was issued shortly after the war, and features an image of the new headquarters of WRL, along with a portrait of the company’s founder. The map uses a variety of patterns and symbols to identify time zones, primary and secondary monitoring stations, and numbered regions within the United States. An interesting piece of advertising from the Golden Age of Radio.
