Description
This fascinating 20th century legal document outlines the terms of a side-track agreement between an Indianapolis-based business and the New York Central Railroad. A photomechanical reproduction of the lease (probably from the 70s) states that the original terms dated to 1925, but in 1936 the current operator (Indianapolis Ice and Fuel Company, Inc.) wanted to relocate and expand the sidetracks on the property.
Two maps are included. The first, a blueprint with manuscript updates, is dated 1936 and shows the proposed track extension at the corner of Harlan and Hoyt St. A second blueprint, dated 1978, shows the nearby lines of the Consolidate Rail Corporation (a successor of the New York Central) in use by the Citizens Gas & Coke Utility Company.
