Description

Though the rudimentary transportation map dominates the center of the sheet, the surrounding photographs and advertisements best capture the attention on this piece promoting Canyon County, Idaho. It was issued by the Western States Publishing Company of Portland, Oregon around 1951, based on census information provided within the accompanying text.

The map shows a basic transportation outline of the county along the eastern bank of the Snake River, with the major urban centers of Caldwell and Nampa clearly identified (today, both are part of the greater Boise metropolitan area). The former rural composition is reinforced by the surrounding advertisements and text, which laud the agricultural and industrial opportunities available in the region.

The verso presents the same map with different advertisements, as well as several paragraphs promoting the climate, topography, soil, livestock, and produce of Idaho.
