Description

“Now that you understand just how the German engineers are organized and equipped and how they fight you will also know how to deal with them when you meet them. Remember that whenever the British soldier has met the German face to face in this war, as in the last, there is no doubt who is the better man.” – Text, back page.

This intriguing pamphlet was issued in mid-1941 by the General Staff of the War Office for restricted distribution to servicemen and women within His Majesty’s Armed Services. It was one of a series of leaflets designed to educate Commonwealth soldiers on the various components of the enemy army, including armored, infantry, and airborne troops.

Four pages of text highlight German engineers equipment & weaponry, battle roles, and organization.A chart outlines the ‘position’ of an engineer battalion within the larger infantry division, while an illustrated diagram highlights the many different responsibilities and activities in which one might be engaged – assault boats, flamethrower operation, bridge construction, and minelaying are just a few examples.
