Points Reached by Over-Night Service
“Don’t Wire – Say More – Pay Less”

Description
This uncommon ink blotter was issued by the United States Postal Service to advertise its new overnight airmail operations. Points reached by the system range from New York to Boston, Chicago, Detroit, and Louisville (among other cities).
The map represents just part of a larger transcontinental airmail service owned and operated entirely by USPS between 1918 and 1926. Legislation the year prior enabled the Postmaster General to contract airmail services to private firms, essentially launching the commercial aviation industry in the United States.
An image in the lower right possibly shows the Ryan M-1, the first mass-produced monoplane in America and a workhouse of mail service fleets across the country.
