Description

This engraved celestial print was published in 1830 by F. Siedentopf in Karlsruhe, Germany. Each of the sheets’ four images represents a different astronomical concept.

The lower right features an outline of the solar system highlighting various types of orbits. The lower left presents views of the Moon, Mars, the Sun, and Jupiter, in addition to a astrological diagram. The upper left shows constellations and established relationships between latitude and longitude. Finally, the upper right explains solar and lunar eclipses.

An interesting composition outlining contemporary astronomy in the early decades of the 19th century.
