Description
This vintage view of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was designed by Tom Dodds and published by Toronto-based Archar, Inc. in 1978. The charming view presents the Steel City at the junction of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio (foreground). Skyscrapers, stadiums, and small businesses are illustrated and labeled throughout the image, reflecting the promotional nature of the publication. Local attractions and landmarks are also shown. Caricatured figures are engaged in an interesting mix of conversations, discussing historical tidbits, points of civic pride, and jokes.
An amusing and entertaining overview of Pittsburgh from the late 1970s, albeit in the smaller of the two formats commonly issued by Archar.
