Library edition of the U.S.G.S. Pikes Peak geologic folio.
Description
Published in 1894 by the United States Geologic Survey under the directorship of J.W. Powell, this atlas covers a relatively small area around Pikes Peak in central Colorado.
Several pages of descriptive text outline the region’s physical formation and history, while full color maps provide topographic, areal geologic, economic geologic, and sectional overviews. A separate, special sheet, shows the economic geology in the area immediately surrounding Cripple Creek – the location of Colorado’s last great gold rush when the precious mineral was discovered in 1890.
