Description
This wonderful collection of twelve postcards was likely sold as a souvenir in the gift shop of the Field Museum of Natural History in the mid-1920s. Each card is captioned on the back and includes a stub for addressee, date, and remarks.
They provide a fascinating window into the exhibits available to museum-goers during the ‘heyday of zoological collecting’ and include images of the Cacao Tree, Natal Plum, Wild Turkeys, and Virginia Deer. A dinosaur skeleton, Egyptian mummy, Tinguian iron workers, and views of the building and main hall are also included.
