Description

This ‘photogenic’ pictorial map of Hawaii was published by Kodak Hawaii, Limited around 1957. A simple map of the island of Oahu can be seen in the center of the sheet, with nearly 60 locations of interest identified. A filmstrip border shows the majority, while “other photographic points of interest” are noted at the bottom of the page.

Boxes of Kodak Verichrome, Plus-X, Super-XX, Kodachrome, and Kodacolor film are intertwined with plumeria on either side. The verso shows similar maps of the islands of Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii and offers tips for taking successful photographs across the archipelago.

Dated based on the annotation of the Mission Houses (constructed 1832), which are noted as being “built of Hawaiian coral blocks and lumber brought around the Horn 125 years ago.”
