Parte Occidentale dell Impero Romano
$125.00
Later edition of D’Anville’s map of the world known to the ancients.
Description
This is a map showing northern and western portions of the Roman Empire from Ireland to Germany, including the northern coast of the Adriatic. It was published in the 1820 edition of Rossi’s Nuovo Atlante Di Geografia Universale and depicts the region in ancient times, showing the early geographic record of northern Europe and the British Isles. Historical provinces are outlined in hand color, and a variety of tribal information and regional localities are splashed across the map, showing the numerous cultures that thrived before and after the Roman Empire. Information outside the extent of Roman control, such as in Ireland, Germany and the Low Countries, is sparse in detail.
