WWII plan of the area around Paris.

This British military map covers a large area around the French capital of Paris. Issued at a scale of 1:250,000, the image offers a strategic overview of the region east of the metropolis. Topography is shown in contours and various settlements and geographic features are labeled. The transportation network of varying degrees of roads and railroads is also emphasized.

First Edition. Compiled by the Geographical Section, General Staff and published by the War Office in 1942. Red overprinting indicates it likely was intended for use by the RAF, circling key Luftwaffe sites. The City of Lights was in its third year of occupation, with life becoming increasingly difficult for residents. Unsurprisingly, the Jewish population was especially targeted, being forced to wear yellow Stars of David and facing mass deportation to Auschwitz for the first time.
