[Orlando] Sunseeker’s Guide

This two sided map, featuring a Sunseeker’s Guide and a Navigator’s Guide, was created on behalf of the Walt Disney Travel Company by Landmarkers Maps. It shows a city whose identity is already becoming muddled with that of the eponymous park and media giant, even though Disney World opened less than 20 years before publication, in 1971.

The Sunseeker’s Guide throws geographic accuracy to the wind and depicts major landmarks in cartoon form, with no sense of scale, distance, or practical navigation information. The verso features the Navigator’s Guide, which omits all decorative elements in exchange for detailed routes, lists of hotels, and labeled points of interest. Something for everyone to enjoy?
