Oregon
$140.00
Proud pictorial map of Oregon published by a defunct local beer company.
Description
Blitz-Weinhard Beer Company was founded in 1856 in Portland, Oregon Territory by Henry Weinhard, a German-American brewer who emigrated to New York five years prior. This map is a product of the company’s pride in its state of origin, and focuses on the scenic beauty and environmental diversity of Oregon. Illustrations of wildlife and physical features dominate the image, which is composed of naturally contrasting shades of tan and green. A legend expounds on the outdoor opportunities further, identifying symbols for golf courses, ski slopes, fossil sites, and campgrounds.
Although the brewing company was ultimately sold to MillerCoors, the original brewery is on the National Register of Historic Places and was recently converted into a mixed-use development known as the Brewery Blocks. Very Portland!
