Description

Opryland USA (later Opryland Theme Park) opened in 1972 in Nashville, Tennessee and was billed as “the home of American Country Music.” The Grand Ole Opry House took over from Ryman Auditorium to become the seat of the Opry in 1974, and the Opryland Hotel was completed in 1977.

This map shows the former, but not the latter, and thus likely dates to around 1974 (the year the State Fair area opened, also not pictured). A pictorial map of the park is provided in the center of the page, offering an illustrated bird’s eye view of the various attractions, rides, and amenities available to visitors.

Surrounding the map are illustrated scenes representing the various regional musical offerings – “all the wonder of America set to music.” Although it closed in 1997, the park averaged 2.5 million visitors annually in the late 1980s.
