Description
This eye-catching pictorial map highlights the tremendous historical impact of Ohio. The state’s nickname, “The Mother of Presidents” is well deserved, and reinforced by portraits of the seven leaders who call the Buckeye State home. Other important contributions are detailed in the area surrounding the map and the border, especially in the field of education.
The map itself presents a historical overview of Ohio as it appeared in 1803, when it was admitted to the Union as the 17th state. The outlines of original land grands, small illustrations, and informative accompanying text presents a fascinating historical snapshot from the early 19th century.
The map was designed, drawn, and published by Arthur Suchy in Cleveland around 1939. This particular example is a later issue purchased from his estate, and was likely printed around the 1960’s or 1970’s.
