This attractive set of maps highlights the topography, major geographic features, and approximate political divisions around the world. Incomplete coastlines in the Arctic and Antarctic reflect the last great frontiers of unexplored territory.

Place names are in German, with a few in different typeface reflecting various updates over time. Issued in the 1874 edition of Stieler’s Hand-Atlas. This atlas was one of the leading geographic publications in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was published in ten editions from 1816 to 1945 by the firm of Justus Perthes in Gotha, Germany.
