Description
This beautiful map of New Zealand was designed by local artist Steve Moase and published in Auckland by Moby Deep around the final decade of the 20th century. The flora, fauna, and culture of both the North and South Islands are on full display.
Locations of interest and recreational activities are also depicted in an attractive and colorful style. National symbols of New Zealand (known as Aotearoa to the indigenous Maori) can be seen in the lower right and include the flag, silver fern, and kiwi. Varieties of the traditional form of whakairo (carving) are depicted in the upper left.
