Description

Travel back in time with this intriguing pictorial guidebook of New York City, published around 1922 by the Manhattan Post Card Company. Dozens of captioned images highlight many of the Big Apple’s most iconic features including statues, bridges, skyscrapers, hotels, parks, and more.

Highlights include National League Baseball Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and Times Square. Aerial views of the Theater District, Central Park, Lower Manhattan, and Columbus Circle offer a glimpse into big city life over a century ago.

Included with the booklet is an early 1920s transit map of Manhattan by Rand McNally. Brightly colored lines show the various subway, streetcar, and elevated lines in operation prior to the consolidation of the network. Fascinating souvenirs from the heyday of the Great Migration.
