Description

This ephemeral leaflet advertises available real estate in Porter County, Indiana, situated between the Calumet River and Lake Michigan. The line of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway is prominently featured (noting the proximity of Dunne Park station), while an inset in the lower left highlights the area’s proximity to Chicago City and the Stockyards. Somewhat disingenuous text (in German) printed on the verso almost guarantees that major Chicago meatpackers Swift, Armour, and Phillip Morris will be moving their operations to a new facility. Other (more realistic) economic incentives are also described.
