Description

Large county configurations and sparse settlements highlight the rural composition of the New Mexico Territory in the late 19th century. Towns are concentrated on the handful of railroads in operation throughout the state, but geographic features otherwise dominate the interior. Native American reservations are noted in several locations and topography is depicted pictorially.

The map was published by C.A. Gaskell in 1894 for inclusion in his Family & Business Atlas of the World.
