[Needlepoint Map of Taiwan]

A beautifully designed needlepoint map of Taiwan.

This lovely needlework map of Taiwan, created anonymously, was likely made for the tourist market during the second half of the 20th century. Several different stitches and colors of thread are skillfully used to craft the attractive image, in which pictorial vignettes highlight the flora, fauna, landmarks, and primary industries across the island.

Small blue boxes represent cities, though a handful are unlabeled (possibly from space restrictions?). The railroad network is given special attention, with a darker brown used to indicate completed lines. This gives helpful context as to the date of creation, as it was before the construction of the North-Link line in 1979.
