Description

This vibrantly colored map was published in Chicago by Rand McNally in 1893 as part of the firm’s popular Atlas of the World. One side presents a detailed overview of Nebraska, while the verso shows Colorado. Each image uses bright hues to distinguish county configurations. Geographic features, settlements, and other locations of interest are labeled throughout.

Railroads, both completed and under construction, are identified with thick black lines. Topography is depicted in hachure, highlighting the rugged mountainous terrain covering much of the region. Numerous mountain peaks are named with their corresponding elevation. An interesting snapshot of these two states with vastly different histories and geographic compositions.
