This collection of intensely detailed maps was published during World War II and the Occupation Period by the National Geographic Society. The global conflict thrust faraway lands into the American public conscience for the first time on a mass scale and National Geographic was well-equipped and eager to inform the masses (of potential customers). Each image presents a wealth of information, including topography, natural resources, major transportation routes, and strategic infrastructure.
