Description

This colorful bird’s eye view of Nashville, Tennessee was produced and published in Toronto by Archar, Inc. in 1981. A cluster of high-rises identifies the downtown area in the center of the page, with various surrounding neighborhoods also depicted.

Based on the labels, the emphasis is clearly on promoting local businesses, though the inclusion of historic sites, civic structures, and caricature figures provides more to the scene than just advertising. Fort Nashborough, the Parthenon, Municipal Auditorium, and even the ridiculous Nathan Bedford Forrest statue are included within the image. A charming overview of Music City, U.S.A. from the early 1980s.
