Description

This is a lovely illustrated pictorial map of Milwaukee and the surrounding region, with special representation given to Mutual Savings branch locations throughout the area. Names of cities, roads, local attractions and natural features are all boldly labeled while buildings and topography is drawn in a cartoonish fashion. A folksy rendition of the Wisconsin State Seal and a fierce badger adorn the bottom of the map, flanked by other illustrations pertaining to the state’s official fish (muskellunge), animal (white tailed deer) and flower (wood violet).

The map was drawn by Patty Ortega and Darrel Millsap. Patty was likely a local reference, as Millsap was a prolific commercial artist based in California who created maps in a very similar style for his home state.
