Description
One of the later publications in the monumental Geologic Atlas of the United States, this special folio of the Milwaukee district was issued in 1906 by the U.S.G.S. under the directorship of Charles D. Walcott.
The atlas contains 13 pages of descriptive text outlining the history of the overall publication as well as the geologic background of the area depicted. There are two maps – one focused on regional topography while the other emphasizes geologic composition – and one sheet of photographic illustrations.

Condition Description: Original paper covers are present and attached to a strong binding, but slightly toned and chipped in several places. Includes 12 pages of text, 2 folio maps and one page of photographs. The text sheets are somewhat brittle and toned from age and there is a very faint damp stain across the top of each page.
