Description

The Warhammer franchise began as a tabletop board game created by Bryan Ansell, Richard Halliwell, and Rick Priestley and was first published by Games Workshop in 1983. The high-fantasy setting centered around miniature figurines would become immensely popular and grow into a media empire spanning video games, novels, and more.

In 2001, the company partnered with Tolkien Enterprises and New Line Cinemas to release a line of figurines and scenarios in conjunction with Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. This map was issued to accompany the LoTR strategy battle game released the following year.

A base map of Middle Earth, based on Tolkien’s original designs, centers on the Mines of Moria. An outline of the labyrinthian caverns (a setting in the campaign) can be seen at the top of the page, spanning from Durin’s Door to The Bridge of Khazad-dum.
