Description
This wonderfully detailed map of Mexico provides an informational overview of the nation during the reign of Porfirio Díaz. He operated with authoritarian rule as the President of Mexico between 1876 and 1911, ushering in a period of economic growth and national development at the cost of social inequality, political repression, and concentration of power. Diaz’s long tenure would ultimately spark the Mexican Revolution in 1910.
The map was created by Thomas Brumby Johnston, Geographer to Queen Victoria, and published in London around 1895 by Johnston’s brothers, William and Alexander Keith.
