This lovely little pictorial map highlights all there is to do and see in the Metropolitan Oakland Area. Quaint vignettes show important buildings, locations of interest, geographic features, and comical figures engaged in a variety of recreational activities like hiking, golfing, and sailing. A robust transportation network is shown connecting much of the stylized regional overview, surrounded by a border of captioned photographs that further accentuate the area’s appeal.
Produced by the Metropolitan Oakland Area Committee and likely published in the late 1930s or early 1940s, shortly before American entry into WWII.
