Though the war had been won by December of 1945, the job was not yet over for the 1st Armored Division. The unit remained in Germany as part of the occupational forces until April of 1946.

This map boldly outlines the U.S. zone of occupation in red and highlights the “1st Armored Area” in bright yellow. Divisional headquarters are identified in the German town of Schwäbisch Gmünd.

The map was issued as a centerfold in a Christmas card intended for the homefront and includes a decorative front cover wishing “Merry Christmas from the 1st Armored Division Germany.”
