Description
This lovely chromolithographed brochure was printed in Amsterdam by J.H. de Bussy on behalf of Havenstoombootdienst, a local ferry operator. The contents highlight the quaint attractions visible along a popular tour that departed from Amsterdam and visited Marken, Volendam, Monnikendam, and Broek in Waterland.
Romanticized views depict Dutch women wearing traditional dress and wooden clogs as they lift pails of milk and sort fresh fish, while accompanying maps provide directions to the departure point and a simple overview of the route. The cost of the tour was 3 Dutch guilders, with daily departures from April to October.
