Description

This unusual and uncommon collection of manuscript plans was compiled by several different engineers of the Peoria & Eastern Railway, a subsidiary of the New York Central. The group of 11 large-scale maps, dated variously between 1890 and 1948, outline railroad property and trackage across Crawfordsville, Indiana, a town located about 40 miles northwest of Indianapolis. An interesting variety of local businesses are served by P&E RR lines, including the Indian Refining Company, Joseph Binford & Son, Williams Coal Company, Darter’s Elevator, Wabash College, and G.W. Deer & Son Corporation.
