Description

Situated on the shores of Lake Tahoe in Nevada, the Ponderosa was a 1,000 acre ranch that was the fictional home of the popular western television series, Bonanza. The show ran between 1959 and 1973 and included nearly 450 episodes across its 14 seasons.

This map, originally drawn by Robert Temple Ayres, could be seen in the opening credits. This particular example was published as a souvenir in 1967 for the opening year of Ponderosa Ranch. This real-life Bonanza-themed amusement park was located not far from the fictional Ponderosa, in Incline Village, Nevada, and was in operation until 2004.
