Description

This fascinating collection of materials represents a mere portion of the Third U.S. Army After Action Report, originally published to a limited audience in 1945. The contents, marked SECRET, offer a detailed window into the operational methodology of the Third United States Army, commanded variously by Walter Krueger, Courtney Hodges, and George S. Patton.

Unit maps show the day-by-day progression of different corps as they fought across France and into Nazi Germany. Printed text summarizes the numerous actions, defensive emplacements, and supporting roles, while photographs offer visual evidence of the Third Army’s unquestionable successes. The final two pages of the group offers a colorful overview of the overall campaign between August 1, 1944 and May 9, 1945.

Further information on the complete volume can be found on a previously sold listing at Antipodean Books. OCLC# 7515343.
