Description
This straightforward WWII map of Southeast Asia presents the theater organized into twelve different subdivisions -presumably corresponding to an index of place names (now lost). Geographic features and settlements are labeled throughout the image.
An unknown hand has applied pencil marks – circles and shaded color – to highlight dozens of bombed targets and large swathes of captured territory, respectively. Based on this information, it was probably updated in February 1945, after the assault on Palawan but before the capture of Manila.
