Description
This ephemeral financial statement was issued in 1901 by E. M. Campbell & Company of Indianapolis, a banking firm promoting the creation of the Columbus, Delaware & Marion Electric Railroad Company. The contents advertise twenty-year gold bonds bearing 5% interest, with promotional text touting the railroad’s sound finances, careful organization, and the growing population of the region it was intended to serve.
A map on the back cover shows Ohio’s robust network of interurban railways, including lines already operational, under construction, or projected. Although the Columbus, Delaware & Marion is depicted as completed, passenger and freight service would not actually begin until 1903.
