This tremendous view of the 1939 World’s Fair shows the grounds in Queens, New York in colorful detail. Buildings are individually illustrated and labeled (a partial list is provided at the bottom of the sheet), inviting visitors to enjoy the amusements via the numerous readily available highways, subways, and railroads serving the area. Manhattan Island and the New Jersey shoreline can barely be seen in the far background amidst a sea of green.
The verso presents a rapid transit map of Greater New York, as well as several lists of notable attractions in the greater metropolitan area. Advertisements also encourage the reader, “do not fail to visit the Home Insurance Company exhibit in the Town of Tomorrow.” Published in 1939 by C.S Hammond & Co. as a giveaway for the company at the fair.
