This charming promotional brochure for the Hudson River Day Line was designed and produced around 1936 by the Wendell P. Colton Company of New York (printer’s code in lower left). A map of the river between New York and Albany highlights the steamship route in orange and labels many of the various destinations along the way – Bear Mountain Park, West Point, Poughkeepsie, and Catskill, to name a few. Captioned images along either side, capitalizing on the popularity of cinema, provide a ‘reel’ of scenes from the trip. Descriptive text on the verso provides additional information on the itinerary.
