Description
This ephemeral railroad prospectus was issued by the proprietors of the Great Southern Despatch Fast Freight Line in anticipation of its opening in January of 1884. The route was a cooperative effort between the Pennsylvania Railroad and several smaller companies that would facilitate the efficient transportation of freight between Northern and Southern railway networks.
The text solicits inquiries for bills of lading and freight quotes, with the contact information provided for agents across New England. A map on the back page by Matthews, Northrup & Company of Buffalo shows the entire network of the Great South Despatch Line and its connections.
