Description

This somewhat illegible map of the Land of Israel was designed as an educational tool to visualize the geographic distribution of some of the area’s earliest Zionist settlements. It was distributed by the Council of Teachers for the National Fund of Israel.

Classrooms were encouraged to apply the appropriate labels (not included) to Jewish communities like Rosh Pina, Zikhron Ya’akov, and Petah Tikva – generally established in the late 1870s and 1880s as a result of attempts to flee persecution elsewhere. Once completed, the map could be submitted for a prize.
