Description

This interesting mid-century pocket map shows a street plan of Santa Cruz, California and the surrounding communities along the Bay of Monterrey. Roads, railroads, neighborhoods, geographic features, and other locations of interest are labeled throughout. Postal routes are also identified and explained according to the key in the lower right corner. A comprehensive street index, organized by town, can be seen along the bottom and in the upper right. Blank on verso.

The map was designed by W.F. Mielke and published locally in 1950 by the Standard Map Service. According to a pastedown on the front cover, the image was revised and re-issued annually. Despite this, the firm’s productions are scarce on the market.
