Description

“In the nation’s ‘all-out’ drive for Victory when speed and the conservation of rubber, oil, gasoline, and vital war materials are so essential, Chicago and its suburbanites are relying more than ever before upon the fast, frequent and far-reaching train service of the Elevated Railroad System.” [Text on verso].

This wartime map of the Chicago area shows not only the lines of the ‘L’, but also the surface lines (trolleys), motor coaches, busses, and suburban services. Free transfers (see note in the upper left), 24-hour service on all divisions, rush-hour trains, and off-peak services are all advertised as ways the Elevated Lines of the Chicago Rapid Transit Company are helping the war effort. A reminder to buy war bonds is also included for good measure.
